Being a part of the inaugural trail running Alpine Run Project has been a life-changing experience for me. The project is the brainchild of John Mcavoy, who has used sports to turn his own life around and aims to transform young people's lives through the power of sports. Witnessing what John has achieved has highlighted my passion for helping and mentoring young people. I aspire to follow in his footsteps.

Supporting and sharing the journey with my ARP teammates and watching their progress throughout the year was a great experience. Seeing them cross the finish line in Chamonix filled me with an overwhelming sense of pride. It has inspired me to make a difference in more young people's lives.

This year, I had the privilege of mentoring a young person through Primal Runners, a raod and trail running club and social enterprise led by Carl Adams. The person I mentored has had a difficult past, but their natural talent for athletics made me realise how powerful it is to connect with someone who has lived through similar experiences. I have visited them both at home and on the athletics track and introduced them to the world of athletics. They are now in the hands of a wonderful coach, Stella Bandu, at Ashford AC and are doing well both on the track and at school. I even had the privilege of having them attend one of my latest trail running races in London this past month.

This year, I have been humbled by the number of people I met who reached out and expressed how I have helped them with their trail running and racing journeys. The feedback further motivated me to impact others' lives positively. Launching next year in conjunction with Primal Runners, my "From Care to Where" project aims to bring awareness to the plight of children in the care system.

Mentoring Transformed My Life I aim to help as many young people currently in care or leaving care as possible. I want to give them hope for a brighter future and ensure that future generations have the opportunity to thrive.

I strongly believe mentoring is one of the most rewarding things one can do, and I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to make a positive difference. Best, David
